Developing the Correct Mindset
to Find Your Inner Self
By Adrian McMaster
"Finding your inner self" is a very difficult assignment because it involves so much self-reflection and the ability to develop a new understanding about yourself and the type of person that you have become in life. Your inner self plays a great role in how you interact with others and form relationships, so understanding your inner self is very important to do before you attempt to form lasting relationships with others. This may be a confusing time for you, but if you work to develop the correct mindset to find your inner self, you will be better equipped to carry out this self exploration and come away with many positive benefits.
Finding your inner self requires that you have a specific mindset that will help you accomplish what you set out to achieve. One of the first things you need to do when trying to find your inner self is to have a period of time where you try to discover more about yourself as a human being. In public and around your loved ones, you may assume a personality that is happy, trusting, reliable, and honest. However, you may truly feel that you are unhappy or that you cannot trust others. These traits are all part of your inner self, but you can’t find your inner self unless you understand how you truly feel. This period of self reflection is critical for finding your inner self because, once you see how you truly feel about your life, you can take additional steps to develop new attitudes and goals that can help you achieve success.
Once you hold a period of self reflection, you can study how you interact with others and determine how the words and actions of others affect you in life. On the outside, you may be very outgoing or seem like you have a very thick skin. Many people make it appear this way because their inner selves are shy or are very sensitive to the actions and words of others. If you can observe how you interact with others and make notes, you can notice trends that have developed. For example, if you laugh off a joke about you made by a friend, but then you find yourself feeling hurt later on, this may mean that you are more sensitive than you once thought. Once you find out how you truly interact with others and how they affect you in the long run, you can change your mindset and work towards changing how people affect you personally.
Finding your inner self will also require quite a commitment on your part. When you set out on this journey, you may be faced with many surprising revelations about yourself that may be difficult to handle. If you are committed to finding your inner self, you will find a way to work through these surprises and use them to find your inner self more quickly and get more benefits out of this journey. If you are not committed to the journey, you will not be able to take away as many benefits and positive changes to your life.
Finding yourself can be a very difficult journey for anyone because it can uncover many things we did not know were true in our lives. However, this process can also have many rewards that add positive benefits to our lives. The journey of self-discovery that you go through while you try to find yourself can lead you to understand yourself better, help you to build more effective relationships, and help you to contribute to your own life more effectively. These are true rewards for all of your time and effort.
