to End a Bad Relationship

Human relationships are one of the constants in life. Relationships are not always positive, but they do exist everywhere we look. Your relationships may include friendships, family members, supervisors, coworkers, and significant others. Your relationships show how you can interact with others and how others affect you on a daily basis. Sometimes relationships become stagnant and fail altogether, so it is important for you to be able to recognize a bad relationship and develop the correct mindset to end such a relationship. Ending relationships can be a difficult task, but it will do wonders for your stress level and help you to clear your life of negative energies.

Business relationships can be positive or negative, depending on the people and the business issues involved. One relationship in business that often goes sour is a business partnership. Many friends and family members go into business together, but then have a difficult time splitting the work and sharing the profits and losses. If you have a partnership that’s not working out, consider ending the relationship so that you can have a more positive attitude and be more productive in your business life. They key to ending this type of relationship is maintaining a professional demeanor. Even though your emotions will certainly be a factor in how this situation progresses, staying calm and communicating your feelings in a nonthreatening manner helps you to keep your credibility and may help you to be able to continue to be friends with your former business partner.

Friendships can be full of joy and love, but they can also have a lot of problems that stem from emotions that can get out of control. If you find yourself in a friendship that has more negative aspects than positive ones, you may want to end the relationship to reduce the stress that it has been creating in your life. If you want to end a bad friendship, it is important to have a mindset that helps you to respect the other person and still communicate your feelings. Use “I” statements such as “I feel that this friendship is unproductive” instead of using statements that accuse the other person of causing the negativity in the relationship. This will help your conversation progress more smoothly and help you to break the relationship in a positive manner.

Family relationships can be the most difficult because you are not able to choose who is in your biological family. Parents, siblings, and extended family members can all cause stress in our lives because of the different way people deal with the same issues and relate with each other. The most important thing to remember is that your family members should not be able to control your life. While it is nice to have their input, your actions should be reflective of what you want in life, not what your family members want. If you need to break off a relationship with a family member, refrain from being vengeful or argumentative. Simply state your feelings in a nonthreatening manner and move on with your life.

Breaking off a romantic relationship can be difficult once you’ve grown close to a significant other. However, romantic relationships can also be toxic in terms of stress and negativity. If your significant other makes you feel unworthy of his or her love or causes stress in your life, it may be time to end the relationship. Do so without a lot of fanfare so you can keep your composure and communicate your feelings clearly. Ending a bad relationship is difficult, but once you do so you’ll be able to enjoy the reduced anxiety and stress in your life.
